Mission

The Wentworth Institute of Technology Honors Program cultivates a community of academically exceptional and intellectually curious students and empowers them to become innovative problem solvers, engaged global citizens, and critical thinkers.

Program Goals

The Honors Program provides enriched academic experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom. Through opportunities in research, leadership, community engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global learning, students are challenged to deepen their knowledge, apply creative problem-solving skills, and contribute meaningfully to their professions and communities. 

The program seeks to:

• Promote academic excellence through rigorous coursework and scholarly inquiry.
• Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement with diverse perspectives.
• Support research, innovation, and creative activity.
• Foster leadership development and civic responsibility.
• Cultivate global awareness through cross-cultural learning and engagement. 

Membership and Admission

First-Year Admission

Students may be invited to join the Honors Program through the undergraduate admissions process. Selection is based on evidence of academic achievement and potential, including consideration of:

• High school academic performance and GPA
• Class rank, when available
• Advanced Placement (AP), honors, or other advanced coursework
• Leadership, service, and extracurricular involvement

Admission of Current Wentworth Students

Current Wentworth students, including transfer students, may be invited to affiliate with the Honors Program after establishing a record of academic success at the Institute. Eligible students must meet program GPA requirements and complete affiliation requirements established by the Honors Program. 

Active Membership Requirements

To remain in good standing, Honors Program students must:

• Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3.
• Participate in Honors Program activities and events as required by the program.
• Complete any school-specific honors expectations associated with their academic program. 

Students whose cumulative GPA falls below 3.3 or who do not satisfy program participation requirements may be placed on probationary status. 

Benefits

Active Honors Program students may be eligible for benefits that include priority registration, specialized academic and co-curricular opportunities, and recognition at graduation.
